몇칠 전  Boyz II Men 의 내한 공연이 있었습니다

그리고 1991년에 데뷔해서 올해로 20주년이 되었네요


1986년, 미국 펜실베이니아, 필라델피아 예술 고등학교에서 친구 사이인

네이든 모리스(Nathan Morris)와 마크 넬슨(Marc Nelson)은

유니크 어트랙션(Unique Attraction)이라는 이름으로 리듬 앤 블루스 음악 그룹을 결성하게됩니다

그러던 중 완야 모리스(Wanya Morris)를 포함하여 숀 스탁맨 (Shawn Stockman)과

마이클 맥캐리(Michael McCary)를 새로 영입하고서 그룹 이름을

Boyz II Men 이라고 변경합니다

1989년부터 아마추어로서 본격적인활동을 시작한 Boyz II Men 은

모타운 레코드 (Motown Records)와 계약을 맺으면서 정식으로 데뷔하게 됩니다




90년대의 Boyz II Men은 정말로 대단했었죠
 
아직까지 깨지지 않은 빌보드차트 16주 1위의 대기록!!

Mariah Carey 와의 듀엣곡인  One Sweet Day 입니다





 
그리고

2위 기록인(공동) 14주 도 역시나 Boyz II Men 의 I'll Make Love To You

3위 기록인(공동) 13주 도 역시나 End Of  The Road  입니다

지금까지 깨지지 않는 대기록이죠
 
얼마나 대단한 Boyz II Men 입니까 !?

Boyz II Men 은 처음 데뷰 때에는 5명 멤버였다가

Marcus K. Nelson 탈퇴로

4명의 멤버로 전성기를 이어 갑니다 

그러다가 Michael Sean McCary 가 건강상의 이유로 탈퇴를 하게 됩니다, 척추 희귀병의 이유였죠

주로 Boyz II Men 중저음 베이스와 나레이션을 담당했습니다

Michael Sean McCary 가 마지막으로 참여했던 정규 앨범인

5집 이후 새로운 정규 앨범은 나오지 않게 됩니다

이 후 앨범 들은 커버앨범 형식으로 발매를 하고 있습니다

그만큼 오랜 멤버였던  Michael Sean McCary 부재가 크다고 할 수 있겠습니다
 
 
그래서 요즘  Boyz II Men 은 예전보단 그렇게 인기가 많지는 않지만

콘서트를 하며 좋은 기부도 많이 하고 여전히 좋은 그룹으로 기억되고 있습니다
